Ron Edding with Adrienne Leggett

The performance “Vanishing Point” set in motion two opposing forces, each reacting to the peculiarities of the gallery space and the people present in the room. The first force is linear, pre-occupied with measurement, direction and containment. The second is multidirectional, unconfined and spontaneous. The two performers, representing each a different force, move through the space of the gallery to the sound of a metronome.

Ron Edding was born in Montreal, Québec where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University. His early practice included painting and experimental film making, leading to screenings and exhibitions at Toronto’s Funnel Experimental Film Centre and at Canada House in London. His more recent work in site-specific photo-based installation and intervention has developed into an ongoing collaborative performance practice. He recently presented “Made in Canada”, an interactive public performance work developed in collaboration with Amelia Jimenez. Ron has received grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. During the past seven years he has presented performances at various arts events in Chile, Serbia, Mexico and Canada.
